June news roundup: Bar for sale, Woodside Hotel and community events return

Here is a round up of the biggest stories from the news in Kenilworth this June.
Alongside a host of planning applications, and a number of high profile council decisions, the last four weeks have seen Nub News cover everything from HS2 and fundraisers to local business successes.
Community News
The month began with the town's Platinum Jubilee celebrations which saw thousands flock to Warwick Road for a community picnic - followed by the Kenilworth Show and then the Lions Grand Show later in the month.
And the return of the Two Castles Run rounded off a fortnight of big community events.
This week Rotary Club of Kenilworth has announced its charity advent calendar - a full six months ahead of Christmas.
A Kenilworth pub is also raising funds for a local greyhound rescue charity.
Whilst another has turned half its car park into a petanque pitch.
The Kenilworth Centre - which has also announced its new joint managers this month - has renamed its garden after the former chairman who passed away last year.
And more details have been announced ahead of the Queen's Baton Relay coming to Kenilworth for the Commonwealth Games.
Colin the white wallaby has been spotted in Kenilworth again.
Development
The Pavilions development on Warwick Road is now 75 per cent complete, Bovis Homes has revealed.
Whilst the growing population in the area has been revealed by the 2021 Census published this week.
Demolition work has begun at Castle Farm Recreation Centre.
A pub is planning renovation works to its outdoor seating area.
And there is good news for future investment, with Kenilworth named as one of the best up-and-coming towns in the UK to invest it.
But councillors have said they must do what they can to protect the Woodside Hotel being turned into houses.

Business news
A new tea room has opened at The Farthing Gallery and a coffee shop at Kenilworth Railway Station.
Awards have been showered on Kenilworth businesses this month, with Coffee on the Corner and Forrest Coffee House both snapping up prizes.
A Balsall Common pub has reopened following weeks of renovations.
A popular outdoor events bar has been put up for sale.
An eight-acre lavender farm has opened nearby.
