A Kenilworth pub has unveiled a new dog feeding station which will also support two local charities.

Set up at The Lion, the station will be stocked with dog treats and fresh water from a redecorated beer barrel.

Whilst the Warwick Road pub will be offering the treats completely free of charge, customers are encouraged to make a small donation if possible.

The money raised will be donated to Candy's Hound Rescue International.

The Birmingham-based charity supports greyhound rescues around the world, and has so far saved over 1,000 dogs since starting up in 2017.

The organisation protects dogs, particularly in China that have been badly treated, set to be used in the meat trade or underground racing industry.

Once dogs are rescued they are looked after by vets before being transported elsewhere in the world for their own protection.

A statement on The Lion's social media said: "Our new dog station is everything your dog will need whilst visiting us, fresh water and delicious treats - they won't want to leave.

"Whilst it is completely free for everyone. we would like to ask for a small donation when you can.

"We would like to raise a little bit of money for a charity that's very close to our hearts.

"Candy's Hound Rescue International do some amazing work rescuing greyhounds from all around the world.

"They work with brilliant activists and organisations to save dogs from meat trucks, slaughterhouses and many more terrible situations.

"Once the poor dogs reach the UK they are treated and new loving homes are found for them."
