The full route and road closure details have been announced for the Kenilworth leg of the Commonwealth Games baton relay.

The 16th official Queen's Baton Relay will reach the town on Friday, July 22 before heading off to Warwick and Whitnash.

The baton will start its journey through Kenilworth at 8am on High Street - outside Mike Vaughan Cylces.

It will then be taken along High Street, down Castle Hill, along Castle Road and then into Kenilworth Castle.

There will be the opportunity for residents to have their photos taken with the baton at the castle.

Road closures will be in place from 7.30am to 8.45am along:

  • High Street
  • Castle Hill
  • Castle Road from the junction of Castle Hill and Borrowell Lane

Diversion routes will be in place and local residents will also be given leaflets with the information.

A Birmingham 2022 statement said: "Come out and cheer our batonbearers as they run along the streets in old town to the grounds of Kenilworth Castle.

"You can follow the baton through the castle grounds, and there will be the opportunity to have your photo taken alongside it."

The baton will start its journey in Kenilworth at the bottom of High Street
