A memorial garden at the Kenilworth Centre has been renamed in the memory the charity's founding chairman, John Whitehouse.

During a short ceremony on Saturday, June 25 the community centre's garden was officially renamed The John Whitehouse Memorial Garden.

John passed away in 2021 but the garden, which is used on a daily basis by different groups at the Kenilworth Centre, will be a lasting tribute to his contribution to both the centre and to the rest of the town.

As well as his work as a local county councillor, John was also very active with Kenilworth Lions and The Greenway Trust.

In recent weeks the new garden has been completely replanted by volunteers, including from the Good Gym Kenilworth group.

The centre also paid thanks to Kenilworth Lions Club for their support in working on the garden and the new benches.

Ann Whitehouse said: "Thank you to the Kenilworth Centre for dedicating their garden to John's memory and also to the Kenilworth Lions for providing the benches.

"John would be so honoured to be remembered in this way."

The Kenilworth Centre recently announced that Sarah McCaffrey and Rebecca Webb would take over as joint centre managers.
