A Kenilworth accountant who ran over 500 marathons for charity has received his MBE nearly two years after it was announced in the Queen's New Year Honours.

David Phillips, of Phillips and Becker Ltd on Priory Road, was awarded the MBE after raising over £142,000 for the Brain & Spine Foundation.

After the disappointment of 2020's cancellation, the London Marathon finally returned last weekend taking the form of an autumn marathon instead of it's usual place in the spring calendar.

A lot of runners therefore had long waited for this opportunity to run the famous route around the capital city.

Jason Bennett was the first of 1,076 runners to cross the finish line, completing the course in 1:12:20. Emma Styles from Nuneaton Harriers was the first female in a time of 1:17:19.

The details of road closures for the Kenilworth Half Marathon 2021 have been announced by Warwickshire County Council.

The Kenilworth Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 12, marking a return to the race after the cancelled event in 2020.

This weekend 85 Kenilworth Runners took part in 21 different parkruns, ranging from local Warwickshire races to further afield.

Among the highlights, Harry Purewal recorded a new 5km personal best of 18:12 at Stratford parkrun.

Two members of Kenilworth Runners completed a 44-mile ultramarathon last weekend.

Penny Rusbridge and Colin Bailey completed the Brecon to Cardiff course on August 1, tackling over 2000ft in height gain.
