Changes to the high street: the Kenilworth businesses that opened and closed during 2024

Kenilworth has seen a range of new businesses open their doors across the town in 2024.

But the year did also see some closures, including The Cottage Inn (again) and Zizzi.

As 2025 gets underway, we have taken a quick look back at some of these businesses.

Open for business

'The Ark' opened at The Square in December, following the rebrand and relocation of Indian Ark from further down the road.

A new café offering a slice of Greece has opened at Kenilworth's Millar Court.

After Wilko closed as the company went under, the site on Station Road was brought back to life by B&M.

A Kenilworth coffee shop has opened a second "bigger and better" venue in the town centre having struggled to keep up with demand on the other side of town.

A new jewellers has opened next door, following months of work converting the former HSBC bank into two new retail units.

A new French bistro which opened in Kenilworth in October has already proved a big hit with locals.

A new tanning studio offering a "relaxing, sunset experience" opened in Kenilworth in October.

September brought a new sushi and pan-Asian restaurant to Kenilworth.

The new tenants at a Kenilworth pub have thanked the local community for making them feel so welcome after taking over and reopening it in the summer.

'Fossato' Lounge opened in the heart of Kenilworth on Saturday 29 June 29 following months of work converting the former charity shop into a restaurant.

New Looks

A new bar and grill, offering an extensive menu, has opened in Kenilworth at a hotel which was threatened with closure but kept open by new owners.

A Kenilworth jewellers reopened in 2024 after it was taken over and given a makeover by Leamington-based The Jones Family Jewellers.

A new Ryman stationary centre opened inside Robert Dyas in Kenilworth last February.

After a decade in the town, Saks Kenilworth on Warwick Road became Portrait Hairdressing Kenilworth in 2024.

Pomeroys on Station Road shut briefly in March before it reopened as The Station House.

Men the Barbers in Kenilworth has received a makeover this year.

A Kenilworth couple took over at the Wyandotte Inn early last year - the first time either of them has run a pub.

Closed

Sadly 2024 has also seen a number of businesses close their doors.

Kenilworth Lloyd's announced it will close in February 2025.

Kenilworth's branch of Zizzi closed for the final time at the end of July.

Kenilworth's RSPCA shop closed for the final time this summer, with the charity unable to afford the increased rent.

A historic local pub which closed earlier this year due to the "current economic climate" was put back on the market for £1 million.

Similarly, The Cottage closed yet again this year and has been put on the market.
