GALLERY: New jewellers officially opens in the centre of Kenilworth
A new jewellers has opened in Kenilworth today, following months of work converting the former HSBC bank into two new retail units.
Having closed its store in Cheylesmore after 38 years, Edmonds Jewellers officially opened for the first time today (October 19) at The Square.
Work started on site earlier this year, with the bank completely stripped back, the drop safe removed and the building split into two units.
Business owner Carl Edmonds had spent months researching similar stores nationwide to refine his vision for the store.
And as it welcomes customers for the first time, he said he is delighted with what the team have achieved.
"It is something a bit different to Kenilworth," he told Nub News.
"We are so excited to be opening the doors and inviting people in.
"We have tried to be as imaginative as we can and as creative as we can to create a real experience.
"I have loved every minute of redeveloping this building, it has been a complete and utter joy.
"We have brought all these ideas together and created something from scratch which we have poured our heart and soul into, we have loved it.
"And we think and we hope we have created something that is stunning and unique."
As well as selling a large range of jewellery, the town centre store is also stocking bags, accessories, sneakers and has been chosen as a dedicated stockist of the Pandora range.
Having closed the unit in Coventry, the new business' new home at The Square will also provide a new base for the highly successful online shop.
"We will be stocking brands with price points from £10 upwards, so there will be something for everyone," Carl explained.
"I don't think there is anyone doing the range of lifestyle goods we will be doing, particularly with the brands we are working with.
"So I do think there is room for us to coexist with the other businesses in the town.
"We see this as a really exciting opportunity, and I have always wanted to do a shop fit myself from scratch."
Interest in the new jewellers has also been widespread, with the team installing a few peep holes on the front windows to allow people to see the progress.
"The peep holes have been great," Carl added.
"They have been received really well. We did it late one evening and straight away a lady looked through and her dog came and looked through the lower one - it was hilarious.
"That's had a lot of interest and given people a sneak preview."
Having opened for the first time today, the shop will close on Sunday 20 October, but will then open again on Monday and remain open on Sundays until Christmas.
