A new tanning studio offering a "relaxing, sunset experience" is set to open in Kenilworth next weekend.

Owned by Jan Jeffery and Johnny Warburton, 'The Sunseeker' will throw open its doors at Abbey End for the first time on Saturday (October 5).

After weeks of work on site at the unit next the new Fossato Lounge, the couple said they are really excited to welcome their first customers, and hope to add something different to the town centre.

"We wanted to create a lovely warm, sunset feel. We want it to be a relaxing atmosphere," Jan told Nub News.

"We want people to feel comfortable, and want them to look forward to come in.

"Even if it just for ten minutes, why not make that a great experience."

Split over two floors, The Sunseeker has six sunbeds - including a stand up bed - each housed in a separate pod.

The duo spent a huge amount of time researching similar businesses across the country, and said they created a very clear idea of how they wanted the studio to look.

Johnny explained: "I know Kenilworth extremely well and when we set out to do this - we were actually on the beach at the time - we were talking about the town and knew it was the perfect place for this.

"This is a walk-in place where you can have a great experience and then get on with the rest of your day.

"We had a very clear idea of what we wanted from the design. We can see the changes in the town with Lounge, Laurent, the cafe culture that is growing here.

"And we thought if we are going to do it, we are going to do it properly and be in keeping with the way the town is going."

Having joined the Sunbed Association, the business will follow strict rules and regulations to make sure customers tan safely.

Jan and Johnny said they have refused to cut corners in terms of the quality of the equipment, and training, with a selection of Ergoline and Megasun beds being installed with top-of-the-range tubes.

And they explained the benefits of tanning go beyond looking good.

"This is not just youngsters, it is people all ages," Johnny said.

"There are huge benefits from sunbeds - as long as people tan safely. It is not just about looking good, it is about feeling good. Sunbeds and tanning safely also has the health benefits of improving skin conditions, and helping people with mental health problems."

Jan added: "We did a huge amount of research into the beds and have chosen them from two very well-respected UK-based companies in the industry."

Opening discounts will also be available to new customers, who are encouraged to look at the Instagram page.

And with just days left before opening, the couple said they were really excited to welcoming the local community in.

"We have both got a passion for this industry," Jan said.

"We have a passion for making this a lovely place to visit, and to create something people want to come to. It is a real passion project."
