Historic pub on the market for £1m after closing due to 'current economic climate'
A historic local pub which closed earlier this year due to the "current economic climate" is back on the market.
The Tipperary Inn in Meer End near Kenilworth is being marketed by property agent Savills, with offers of £1 million willing to be entertained.
The property listing states the Meer End Road pub is available for either sale or rent.
It also describes the venue as a "destination country pub" - also stating it is in North Warwickshire.
Set on a 3.14 acre site with space for 56 cars to park, it also has "extensive private accommodation comprising four en-suite bedrooms".
The Meer End Road pub is supposedly where former resident Harry Williams co-wrote the song 'It's a long way to Tipperary' with Jack Judge in 1912.
Previous pub directors Angelo and Vlad have confirmed it would close in May through a post on the pub's website,
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of Tipperary Inn," they wrote.
"Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to navigate the challenges brought on by the current economic climate.
"We want to express our sincerest gratitude for your patronage and support over the years. It has been a privilege to serve you, and we are truly grateful for the memories we have shared together.
"While this chapter may be coming to a close, we will always cherish the relationships we have formed with our customers and the community. Thank you for being a part of the Tipperary family."
The pub, which was built in the late 1800s, used to be called the Plough Inn.
