A Kenilworth pub which has only been open for a matter of months over the past few years has been put up for sale.

The Cottage Inn on Stoneleigh Road has been closed since earlier this summer, having reopened briefly under the management of Jack Stock and partner Tash Winstone last December.

Before that the pub had been shut since November 2021 when previous landlord Nick Griffin bizarrely blamed local residents for the pub having to close.

Mr Griffin had himself reopened the pub just months beforehand following another lengthy closure.

Owner Wells & Co has marketed the pub for lease on a number of occasions over the past few years, and even gave the Cottage a makeover in the hope of finding a new tenant.

But now the brewery appears to have given up on the venue, with it now on the market for £500,000.

The Cottage is being marketed by property agent Gerald Eve and is said to offer a "strong roadside presence and easy access to Kenilworth's thriving community".

The brochure says: "Kenilworth is a historic Warwickshire market town.

"The Cottage Inn enjoys a prominent corner position on the busy Stoneleigh Road. Located on the edge of town, this attractive pub is just one mile from the town centre and 0.5 miles from Kenilworth train station (Coventry seven mins).

"Surrounded by a sizeable residential population, this property offers a strong roadside presence and easy access to Kenilworth's thriving community.

"The property is a two-storey, end-of-terrace brick building with a pitched tiled roof.

"The ground floor features a recently refurbished open-plan bar with a central servery connecting two spacious areas: a lounge and a restaurant with approximately 70 covers.

"A passageway leads to the extensive commercial kitchen, which has an interconnecting preparation area. Additional facilities include customer WCs and a large basement cellar."
