'Fossato' Lounge is set to open in the centre of Kenilworth on Saturday (June 29) following months of work converting the former charity shop into a restaurant.

Planning permission to turn the former Shakespeare's Hospice shop into a restaurant was signed off by Warwick District Council last year, with an alcohol licence also approved.

Since then, West Country-based café/bar group Lounge has been busy on site creating the new eatery, which will provide around 30 local jobs.

Lounge said the name Fossato translates as moat from Italian - a nod to Kenilworth Castle.

The Lounge will be open all day, every day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks, including full kids', gluten-free and vegan menus, served in a "relaxed, welcoming space".

The company has told locals to expect heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors now feature alongside oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, eclectic artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting in the new eatery.

Gemma Irwin, Community Manager at Loungers, says: "We are delighted to be opening Fossato Lounge in Kenilworth.

"Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.

"They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Fossato Lounge."

The team at Fossato Lounge has chosen to support Kenilworth Carnival this weekend by donating 20p from each coffee and 50p from every burger sold in the first month of trading.
