Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Hotel to Homes

Fresh plans to demolish the Woodside Hotel have been submitted to Warwick District Council.

The scheme - which could see 55 homes built on the site - has been put forward by Vistry Partnership West Midlands, less than a year after the company first bought the closed conference centre.

Last May an application to demolish the 74-bed Woodside was thrown out by district planners on biodiversity grounds.

Residents have launched a campaign to save the hotel.

A group of campaigners looking to protect the open area in Talisman Square, have launched an official bid to preserve the town centre space.

Members of volunteer group Friends of Talisman Square have formally nominated the land to become an 'Asset of Community Value'.

They want Warwick District Council to list the open space in Talisman Square, to recognise its importance and try to protect the role it plays in "furthering the social wellbeing of the local community".

Warwick District Council's planning committee unanimously gave developer Crest Nicholson the go-ahead for the remaining 296 homes to be built on land to the south of Westwood Heath Road, Burton Green, opposite Network Rail's Westwood Training Centre.

Exagen Holly Lane Limited has put forward plans to turn fields across two parcels of land around Meer End Road into a solar farm and battery energy storage facility.

The developer has put submitted the scheme to both Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Warwick District Council, asking whether an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is needed before a full planning application is produced.
