Detailed plans to build 296 homes off Westwood Heath Road look set to be given the green light despite the objections of locals and the parish council.

Crest Nicholson has already been given outline planning permission for the development, with the first phase of 129 houses already under construction.

And now the developer looks set to receive the go ahead for the next three phases of the Westwood Park estate, with a Warwick District Council report recommending that detailed plans be signed off.

Planners said the proposal "conforms to the garden suburb design" of the local area and includes a lot of public open space.

"A wide range of house types is proposed across the market and affordable units which would ultimately lead to a varied character and appearance within the finished development," it added.

But alongside 31 locals, Burton Green Parish Council objected to the application, questioning the housing mix, the impact on local roads and the increased demand on local school places.

The application shows just six one-bed properties will be built, as well as 50 two-beds. The rest will have three or four bedrooms.

And the council report said it had no issues with the plans.

"The proposed development would include an appropriate mix of market and affordable housing and acceptable house and layout design solutions, including significant areas of landscaping and an over provision of public open space," it added.

"There would be no harm arising in terms of neighbour amenity, highway safety or ecology and the standards of amenity for future occupiers are considered to either meet or exceed the guidance."

WDC's planning committee will vote on the application on Tuesday, April 25.
