Kenilworth Rugby Club has today announced its first summer camp for children.

Running between Tuesday 25 August to Thursday 27, the camp is aimed at all children aged 5 to 15.

The camp will be led by Kenilworth RFC's Head Coach, Phil Boulton, supported by his team of qualified community coaches.

This opportunity has been facilitated by Community Group Ltd. who are working in partnership with the club to promote the community game.

Mini & Juniors Chairman Kerry Kirwan said, "It's wonderful to organise our own club community camp and is indicative of how we have grown over the last few years in terms of both numbers and ambition.

"With the Covid background of the last few months it is so important the players get as many opportunities to make up for the time we have lost.

"As we head towards our new ground, there will be more opportunities for the club to work more and more with the wider community and we are looking forward to it".

Each day will run from 9.30am-3pm, and attendees will be split into age grade related 'bubbles' for the rugby activities.

The camp will cost £25 per day, with a discounted offer of £60 if you sign up for all three dates.

Attendees are asked to bring a packed lunch, and a refillable drinks bottle.

Open to boys and girls, the camp is also aimed at all abilities.

Director of Rugby Jai Purewal said "the camp and all the activities are designed in such a way that the boy or girl who has been playing for a good number of years, will get the same out of it as someone who is a beginner."

The camp has been announced following the update in RFU guidance on community rugby, which has moved into stage c of its six-stage return to full contact match play.

Rugby clubs are now permitted to engage in touch rugby activities, with two teams of up to ten players.

The Rugby Club has stressed that all Government, RFU, and Kenilworth Rugby guidelines will be followed during this camp.
