UPDATE: M42 reopens in both directions and man arrested for 'racially aggravated public order offences'

The M42 has reopened around Solihull as police have arrested a man for a string of offences.
The motorway had been shut between junctions four (Shirley) and five (Solihull) from around 6am this morning (July 10), causing huge delays in the area.
Having originally said it was "concerned for the welfare of a man on a bridge" West Midlands Police has since updated to say a man has been arrested.
"A man has been arrested and the M42 has now re-opened after it was closed for several hours this morning," the force said.
"The 52-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences, affecting public infrastructure, criminal damage & other offences."
Traffic was let off the M42 at the rear of the queues in batches earlier this morning.
