Kenilworth planning roundup: Wetherspoon, 99 homes and Waitrose
Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.
Wetherspoon
The town council has objected to Wetherspoon's application to open a pub in the former Poundland unit in the centre of Kenilworth.
Councillors at last week's Kenilworth Town Council planning meeting said while they did not object to the pub at The Square in general, they had concerns about the planned beer garden at the back of the venue.
Cllr Andrew Milton said: "I don't have a problem with the main application itself but where I do have a problem is the beer garden at the back."

99 Homes Approved
Nearly 100 new homes have been given the go ahead alongside Kenilworth's new secondary school off Glasshouse Lane.
Concerns were raised over the positioning of the site's affordable housing but councillors at this week's Warwick District Council planning committee unanimously supported the 99-home scheme put forward by Avanti Homes.
The company's planning agent, Georgina Doyle, said that following discussions with planning officers there had been improvements made to the road layout, housing mix, location of affordable housing and that a community garden had been included.
-------------
Waitrose
Plans that could have seen deliveries made to a Kenilworth supermarket up to 11pm seven days a week have been blocked by councillors because of the impact it would have on nearby residents.
Bosses at Waitrose, in Bertie Road, had applied to Warwick District Council's planning committee to amend the hours that HGVs could deliver products and when their own online delivery vans could load.
If granted, it would have meant the lorries could have made deliveries from 7am through to 11pm each day with the vans able to load from 6am.
-------------
Medieval Wall
The remains of a medieval wall have been found next to Abbey Fields Swimming Pool.
The discovery was unearthed during archaeological investigations ahead of the leisure centre redevelopment.
Warwick District Council has said the discovery will delay the project, but it is expected to still go ahead.
-------------
5G Mast
Kenilworth Town Council has objected to 'inconsistent' plans to build a 15-metre tall 5G mast on a residential street in the town centre.
CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Limited has applied to Warwick District Council for outline permission to build the pole on the pavement at the junction of Whites Row and St John's Street.
Speaking at last week's KTC planning meeting Cllr Rob Barry highlighted the "inconsistencies within the application".
-------------
£3.25million Demolition
A bungalow in Kenilworth that was marketed for £3.25million at the start of 2019 could be knocked down and replaced by a two-storey house.
If approved, the scheme would see a house complete with two swimming pools, five en-suite bedrooms, games room, bar, gym and first floor terrace take its place.
A planning application submitted by Jonathan Holland Architects to Warwick District Council said: "The proposed dwelling aims to enhance the semi-rural nature of the site by proposing a more contained footprint, two-storey development."
-------------
'Slap in the Face' Extension
A house extension on green belt land has been approved by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council despite fierce opposition from neighbours.
The barn conversion on Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common is one of three homes in a small enclave that was formerly used for agriculture.
Both councillors and members of the public spoke at a planning committee last week in opposition to the extension.
