Residents have been given a first glimpse of what Wetherspoon's new pub in Kenilworth could look like as a planning application has been submitted to Warwick District Council.
The pub giant announced last month that it would be investing £2million in a new venue at the former Poundland unit at The Square.
And now plans have revealed that a beer garden could be built at the back of the building, with the current concrete delivery canopy and roller shutter doors demolished to make way.
Inside, the ground floor could have a number of walls knocked down to open up the space, with a bar and kitchen also installed.
Wetherspoon, which runs over 900 venues, also plans to completely remodel the front of the building, with large windows and doors allowing more daylight in.
The first floor will also be opened up slightly at the front to provide "a two-storey void" in the entrance.
The rest of the floor would have a small customer seating area, toilets, offices and the cellar for the bar.
A lift could also be installed, and the back of the pub given bi-folding doors leading onto the terrace.
The application also seeks permission for a change of use from retail to a public house and restaurant.
Given that the shop has been empty since January 2020, Wetherspoon says "there is no longer a retail interest in the site".
The application said: "Once operational, the proposed development will have significant positive impacts on the local economy, including that of the wider town centre."
It added: "The proposed development is also addressing the threat to Kenilworth town centre identified in the local plan by supporting the economic growth of the town centre and by encouraging the footfall within the town centre itself which will have beneficial impacts to the local economy."
