Kenilworth planning roundup: 55 new homes, 5G mast and Abbey Fields

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Woodside Works
Town councillors have maintained their objections to plans to replace the Woodside Hotel with 55 homes.
Prior approval has already been given for the hotel to be knocked down, much to the disappointment of locals.
Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) had already objected to a second application to then redevelop the site into 43 houses and a block of 12 apartments.
And while the developer - Vistry Partnership West Midlands - has made changes to the second application, town councillors still opposed the scheme.

Misjudged Mast
Town councillors have unanimously objected to plans to install a 15-metre high 5G mast next to Kenilworth Cemetery.
Having been refused planning permission for a similar scheme elsewhere in the town last year, CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Limited has submitted an application to Warwick District Council for the communications pole on Oaks Road.
The company - which owns telecommunications and internet service provider Three - said there is an "acute" need for the station to "provide effective service coverage" in the area.
But town councillors said next to the cemetery was not an appropriate location.

Abbey Fields
Historic England has given its approval for revised plans for the new swimming pools in Abbey Fields.
The new designs - which will still need to be signed off by Warwick District Council (WDC) members - will raise the level of the new leisure centre so it sits over the historic remains uncovered in the park.
Now the revised plans have been approved by Historic England, a section 73 'material amendment to planning permission' will be submitted for consideration by local planners.
Councillors will also have their say on the future of the project later this year.
