Here is a roundup of the biggest stories from the news in Kenilworth this June.

Alongside a host of planning applications, and a number of high profile council decisions, the last four weeks have seen Nub News cover everything from HS2 and fundraisers to local business successes.

Community News

A new headteacher has been announced for Kenilworth School, with the current head set to move overseas.

With the support of Kenilworth HeartSafe a second Defibrillator has been installed at Kenilworth Tennis Squash & Croquet Club for the benefit of members and also the public. 

There has been an "overwhelming" response from the local community which has come together to raise nearly £8,000 to help rebuild the outdoor area at Henley-in-Arden Railway Station after an arson attack this June.

The community events came thick and fast, with the Two Castles Run seeing thousands take to the streets of Kenilworth and Warwick.

Kenilworth Carnival also returned this June, with the parade a big hit as always. As did the Kenilworth Lions Grand Show which even featured a flypast from a Hurricane.

And the month also featured the popular Kenilworth Show, with thousands heading to the new venue to enjoy the sunshine.

Ian Beasley set himself the unusual challenge of completing the full 26.2-mile marathon distance, entirely around Custard Corner!

Police

A town councillor has queried the "alarming" increase in reported crimes in Kenilworth town centre, with incidents increasing at the highest rate of any area across Warwick district.

Police have appealed directly to parents after a group of around 50 teenagers was spotted drinking in the town last month.

£11,500 has been recovered for South Warwickshire farmers after a "devastating incident" saw two dogs killed several sheep.

An assistant head at a South Warwickshire school has been banned from teaching for life after being placed on the sex offenders register.

A man has been arrested after allegedly pointing what appeared to be a firearm at a bus and passing vehicles on Kenilworth Road.
