A new headteacher has been announced for Kenilworth School, with the current head set to move overseas.

Darren Nicholas, currently Head of Kenilworth School, will be taking up the position of principal at an international school in Abu Dhabi and will therefore be leaving at the end of August 2025.

Mr Nicholas - who joined the school ahead of its move to Glasshouse Lane in 2023 - has managed similar overseas posts in the past.

The Chair of Trustees of Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT), Malcolm Graham said: "We thank Darren for all his hard work and wish him well in his new career challenge."

Following interviews for the position of Head of School (temporary), Mr Nick Mummery, currently Senior Deputy Head, has been appointed by the KMAT Board to the position of Head of School for the next year.

The position will commence at the start of the new term in September.

Hayden Abbott CEO said: "We extend our sincere thanks to Darren Nicholas for everything that he has done at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form and in particular for leadership of the school during a transition period from a school on a split site to our current location on Glasshouse Lane.

"He ensured that students and staff settled in quickly, developing many very positive relationships with the school and local community.

"Nick Mummery is known to the community and respected by many families for the excellent work that he did as Head of Kenilworth Sixth Form when the facility was on Rouncil Lane, and for his work at the new school.

"I have every confidence that the school and Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust will continue to go from strength to strength through our very committed team of staff and our excellent students working together."
