Summer in full swing at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club

Summer is heating up at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club (KTSCC), and it is not just the weather!
With packed courts, inspiring performances, and rising stars across tennis, padel, squash, and croquet, the season is shaping up to be one to remember.
Tennis: Promotion Push and Finals Day Drama
The club's social tennis sessions continue to draw great attendance - and new faces are always welcome.
On the competitive front, both the mens' and ladies' teams are pushing for promotion as the season heads into its second half.
Juniors are thriving too, with the coaching programme "booming" and another exciting Junior Night planned for July.
"We recently hosted an electric Finals Day for our Open Tournaments, drawing a brilliant crowd that enjoyed high-level tennis and classic strawberries & cream," the club said.
Among the highlights:
Mixed Doubles Thriller: Stan Barker and Carolyn Lindsay edged out Seungwon Baek and Mel Jennings in a nail-biter to kick off the day.
Men's Singles: A repeat of last year's final saw Oliver Roe deliver a jaw-dropping performance to defeat Charlie Griffin.
Ladies' Singles: Mel Jennings claimed the title once again, fending off strong play from Julie Davies.
Men's Doubles: Charlie and Oliver proved unstoppable, claiming their second consecutive title.
Mixed Doubles Finale: Charlie Griffin and Grace Gamble capped the day with a dominant win over Stan and Julie.
"Special thanks to Lei Mohanachandran, Gareth Dudley, and Steve Jones for umpiring and giving the day a truly Wimbledonesque atmosphere," KTSCC added.
Croquet: Friendly Battles and Federation Action
"Our croquet team had a promising first friendly against Stourbridge, narrowly missing out on a win but enjoying a wonderful day of sport," KTSCC added.
This week marks a busy schedule, with:
1 July: WMF 6+ team hosting Edgbaston
1 July: WMF B team travelling to Eardisley
4 July: Friendly home match vs Northampton
Club socials continue every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, alongside ongoing club competitions.
"We're also looking forward to hosting the annual 'Croquet all sports' event for the Tennis, Squash & Padel sections later this month, for a lively round of croquet," the Crackley Lane club added.
Padel: Junior Stars Shine and Teams on the Rise
"Our Junior Padel section is making waves!
"Jake Simpson and Spencer Morrey made club history as the first Kenilworth juniors to compete in a national LTA Padel event.
"Their performance at Smash Padel, Bicester showed immense promise and earned them UK ranking points.

"Thanks to our coaching team - Guy Pearson, Tom Walton, and Andrew Simpson - for guiding this next generation.
"And with dynamic new kits designed by Akuma Sports in partnership with Onside Coaching, our junior squad is looking sharp and playing even better."
Team Highlights:
1st Team: A commanding 4–0 victory against Loughborough University.
2nd Team: Mixed results, but standout 4–0 and 3–1 wins over Market Harborough.

A Fond Farewell: SJ Perry Retires
A momentous chapter closes as Sarah-Jane Perry (SJ), KTSCC legend and former World No. 5, retires from professional squash.
She did so at the British Open in Birmingham, her hometown, surrounded by supporters and fellow champions.
With over 100 England caps and a trophy cabinet that includes three British National titles and three Commonwealth Games medals, SJ's legacy is etched into the fabric of the sport.
"From everyone at KTSCC: Thank you, SJ—you've inspired generations," the club said.
