Kenilworth Town Council

Town councillors have repeated their "disappointment" in the way major planning applications have been handled around Kenilworth.

Town councillors are also set to write to their colleagues at Warwick District Council, Warwickshire County Council and housing developer Persimmon Homes to call for urgent action on improving safety around Leamington Road.

Councillors have welcomed the news of a major funding boost for renovation plans at Kenilworth's skate park.

Kenilworth and the rest of Warwick district remain at risk of becoming a "free-for-all" for housing developers, a local councillor has warned.

Town councillors have thrown their unanimous support behind plans to create a new youth council in Kenilworth.

The Kenilworth public has been thanked for its "amazing" response to a recent town council survey over the future of Castle Green car park. It will remain free to use following the feedback.

Warwick District Council

The former Kenilworth School site at Leyes Lane has officially been sold to Homes England, Warwick District Council (WDC) has confirmed.

The construction of Kenilworth's new swimming pools is in its "final stage".

Improved bin collections are coming to properties with communal waste bins, Warwick District Council has confirmed.

But clothes and other textiles will no longer be collected from local homes.

A Kenilworth play area has reopened after six months of renovations.

"Additional survey work" has been taking place at Kenilworth's former school site on Leyes Lane this month, residents have been told.

Councillors are optimistic a promised link from a new housing estate to Kenilworth School will soon open.

Warwickshire County Council

Leader of Warwickshire County Council George Finch has survived a challenge to oust him by one vote despite a Conservative breaking ranks to vote against him.

Moved by the Greens, the vote was backed by the Lib Dems.

Reform UK'S hierarchy instructed its Warwickshire councillors to stand by George Finch as leader at all costs – even if it meant giving up power.

After the vote, a Conservative who voted to remove Reform UK's George Finch as leader of Warwickshire County Council was suspended from his group.

Cllr Jan Matecki had stepped down as deputy leader of the group ahead of the vote.

Advocates of two new councils for north and south Warwickshire received a boost this week after the national government opted to create smaller unitaries in other areas.

Meanwhile West Midlands Combined Authority mayor Richard Parker has backed proposals to form new two unitary councils in Warwickshire.

Political group leaders at Warwickshire County Council are set to meet this week to discuss what can be done to address increasing cost of living pressures.

Councillors of all stripes have backed a call for Warwickshire County Council to pay for an external investigation into how the result of George Finch's conduct probe was made public.
