Leamington Hibernian left Gypsy Lane empty handed today, having suffered a 4-1 defeat to home-side Kenilworth Sporting.

Sporting were playing their first home fixture since the recent ground refurbishments.

They had already travelled away this season, winning 5-0 at WLV Sporting, and 1-0 at Castle Vale Town.

Hibs' start to the campaign had not been so illustrious. They had already suffered back to back defeats. Their third straight loss sees them fall to second-bottom, whilst Sporting move up into second place.

Playing in front of 247 supporters today, Sporting made their homecoming a real spectacle.

The home side controlled the game well, finding themselves 3-1 ahead as the half time whistle blew.

Jason Evans put the hosts ahead on 15 minutes, before doubling his tally on the half hour mark.

Matthew Boyle then made it three for Sporting, whilst a Hibs goal from Curtis Cutts meant that Kenilworth conceded their first goal of the season.

Kenilworth were able to remain organised in the second half, eventually taking a 4-1 lead and securing all three points; Boyle doubling his tally on 63 minutes.

Archie Ascroft was the Man of the Match today, a fine performance from the teenager.

Kenilworth will be on the road again for their next fixture, travelling to FC Shush next weekend.
