Kenilworth Sporting played their second league match of the season last night, away against Castle Vale Town.

The away side brought all three points back to Kenilworth after a 1-0 victory, courtesy of Luke Steer's strike on seven minutes.

Sporting came into the match full of confidence, having played their first competitive fixture since March at the beginning of the month. They started their 2020/21 campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of W L V Sporting, during which Steer bagged a hat trick.

Castle Vale lined up last night as the league's bottom placed side.

They had already lost 6-1 to Birmingham Tigers in their opening game, and then fell 7-1 to Central Ajax last time out.

Kenilworth were due to face Tamworth Academy last weekend, however the game had to be postponed, after a member of the Tamworth camp received a positive Covid-19 test.

Yesterday's result brought them up to third in the league, as they chase promotion to the Midlands League Division Two.

Kenilworth will finally return to their Gypsy Lane home ground this Saturday to host local rivals Leamington Hibernian at 3pm.

Leamington will travel to Kenilworth in thirteenth place, having lost both of their games this season, 7-2 to league-leaders Coventrians, and 3-2 to Inkberrow.
