Wardens got back to winning ways after a late winner from Jack Boden for a 1-0 win against Coundon Old Boys.
Wardens started the game the better of the two sides and should have been ahead within the first minute. Harvey Benton beat his man in the box and crossed to Eamonn Richards, however he couldn't direct his shot on target.
Wardens continued to threaten and had a flurry of chances, with Coundon's keeper being equal with impressive saves; twice saving shots from Boden and making an incredible stop from a Kiran Jayaram close range header.
Coundon came close to taking the lead on 30 with an Antony Hatton free kick, however Alex Brown excellently kept the shot out of the top corner with his finger tips.
Wardens started the second half with immediate pressure which led to equally good saves from Coundon's keeper once again.
After a great passing move Sol Bloomer's cross fell to Jayaram six yards out, however an unfortunate bobble meant he could not direct his shot goalwards.
Moments later Jayaram was involved again with an excellent slipped pass into Boden in the box, however Coundon's keeper was again equal to it with an excellent save.
Wardens had further chances with Bloomer twice coming close and subs Harrison Wright and Dylan Wright both had shots saved.
With 86 minutes gone Wardens' blushes were saved when Bloomer played an excellent ball from left back position into Boden who slipped it under the keeper from a tight angle.
In the dying moments Coundon were reduced to 10 men after a high and late challenge on Richards on the half way line.
"We definitely deserved the win and realistically was a good example of our strengths and weaknesses this year," player-manager Richards said after the game.
"We could and should have been several goals up, with finishing being our constant issue this season.
"Defensively we were excellent and actually played some good football on a very difficult pitch.
"But we'd have double the points we currently have if we could convert even a third of our chances. Jack playing is so important to us, and once again found the moment of quality to get us the three points."
