Kenilworth Sporting were in action again yesterday, as they travelled to Birmingham to face FC Shush in the Midlands League Division Three.

The fixture would be the first chance for fans to see new-signing Charlie McConnachie from Coventry Sphinx in action.

Going into the match, Kenilworth Sporting remained unbeaten, having won all three of their opening fixtures. Sporting had only conceded once all season, in their 4-1 win over Leamington Hibernian last time out.

Full of confidence, they took on an FC Shush side that had lost two of their opening games, conceding 11 goals in the process.

The final result went with the form books at Sporting brought all three points back to Kenilworth after a 3-1 victory.

The away side, who were wearing their new away kit, went 1-0 down just before halftime, having faltered all half, not producing the level of performance that they had so far this season.

Kenilworth were able to regain their composure in the second half, going behind seemingly forced them to focus.

On 65 minutes Luke Steer hit on the end of a Tyrone Wilson cross to head Kenilworth level, his fifth goal of the season.

Although Kenilworth dominated possession and created chances, it seemed as if the away side would not get the goal to win it.

However, on 75 minutes Jordan Simms found Archie Ascroft with a slide rule pass, Ascroft's pace drove him into the area where he coolly slotted the ball pass the stranded keeper to make it 2-1.

With five minutes left on the clock some great link-up play, ended with a fine cross from Ascroft to find the head of Wilson to make it 3-1.

After the game manager Martin Ascroft said "I am delighted to end September with four wins from four games."

He was also pleased to announce that Kenilworth Sporting FC have teamed-up with Kenilworth Wardens FC Reserves, to allow players returning from injury to have some game time.

Kenilworth Sporting's management named their Man of the Match as Jason Evans.

Sporting will once again be on the road for their next fixture against Sutton United next weekend.

Kenilworth Nub News and Kenilworth Sporting have announced this week that they are offering the chance for a local sports writer to get involved in coverage of the non-league side, more details can be found here.
