Non-league football will return to Kenilworth this weekend as Kenilworth Sporting play their first home game of the season.

Sporting will host local rivals Leamington Hibernian at Gypsy Lane on Saturday, in their Midland Football League Division Three clash.

The 3pm kick off will be Sporting's first home fixture since the club was resurrected by Geoff Harris of Coventry Plumbing and Heating Supplies.

Geoff has reinvested in the sleeping giant, building a brand new club house, and installing high-quality drainage to ensure that the playing surface at Gypsy Lane is as good as it can be.

The land, formerly the home of Kenilworth Town FC, will now host Kenilworth Sporting as they hope to bounce back and reignite the support of the town.

New manager Martin Ascroft has said, "we want the club to be part of the community again, we want to create a team people want to come and watch on their weekends off."

Sporting have already played twice this year, winning 5-0 over W L V Sporting, and then winning 1-0 against Castle Vale Town last Monday.

Sporting currently sit in third place in the division, whilst Leamington find themselves fourth bottom, having lost both of their opening games.

On Saturday entry will cost £3 for adults and £1 for under 16's. Food will be served during the game, plus the bar will open.

Kenilworth Nub News will also be bringing match reports and the latest news from Gypsy Lane all season
