News in Kenilworth

The full council of Warwick District Council will meet next week (Wednesday 24) to discuss a potential merger with Stratford District Council to form one 'super council' for south Warwickshire.

The proposal to create 'A single statutory South Warwickshire Council covering all of the activities currently carried out by SDC and WDC' will potentially see the two districts merge by 1 April 2024.

Here is a gallery of photographs of Kenilworth Railway Station spanning 170 years of history from when the station was first opened in 1844, right up until the reopening in 2018.

Four of the photos in the gallery were taken in 1964, just a few months before the last passenger train stopped at the station. These show the booking hall interior, as well as views of the platform from both the Coventry and Leamington Spa ends of the station.
