Kenilworth planning roundup: Solar farm, show homes and Station Road
Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.
Solar Farm Withdrawn
Plans to build a solar farm the size of 50 football pitches along the A46 near Sherbourne have been withdrawn by the developer.
Namene Solar put the scheme forward to Warwick District Council in June saying that the 25MW farm would produce enough renewable energy to power over 7,500 homes each year.
The scheme would have seen four fields on the west side of the dual carriageway just before the Longbridge roundabout dedicated to generating electricity.

Showhomes Start to Show
Five showhomes and a sales office for a new 620-house estate in Kenilworth are nearing completion.
Outline planning permission was granted for the major housing estate and primary school on Glasshouse Lane in April 2021, with detailed plans still being considered by Warwick District Council.
But planners gave the go-ahead for the model homes for the 'Stoneleigh View' development in April 2022 ahead of the estate launching fully this winter.

Station Road's Future
Paving the shut off part of Station Road could cost the town council over £50,000, if the temporary closure is made permanent.
The Kenilworth town centre street was originally shut in spring 2020 to ease social distancing during the pandemic.
Following a request from Kenilworth Town Council, Warwickshire County Council announced last November that it would remain blocked off into 2022 pending a public consultation.
