A new housing estate being built in Kenilworth will see more than £2million invested in local services.

Miller Homes West Midlands is set to build 99 homes at its Southcrest Rise development.

Full planning permission for the estate off Glasshouse Lane was granted in August and the developer has now announced that the online reservation system is set to open from Autumn 2022, with the showhome due to launch in early 2023.

Following its launch, the new neighbourhood will comprise of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, as well as a selection of two-bedroom bungalows.

And as part of its planning obligations to Warwick District Council, Miller Homes will give over £2,067,000 earmarked for education, transport and sporting facilities in Kenilworth.

The package will include nearly £1million to be invested in education, including money for purchasing the land for the new Kenilworth School.

Sports facilities including Abbey Fields, Castle Farm and Kenilworth Wardens Club will benefit from over £150,000 in funding.

A further £605,000 has been earmarked for improving transport infrastructure around the upcoming neighbourhood, including diverting existing bus routes and plans to provide a shuttle bus service direct from Southcrest Rise to the town centre.

And £96,000 is to be invested into a local NHS hospital and doctor's surgery.

In an "effort to encourage the creation of a welcoming and friendly neighbourhood", Miller Homes is to contribute £177,000 towards the construction of a brand-new community centre and its maintenance costs for five years.

Commenting on the upcoming neighbourhood and the importance of investing into the Kenilworth community, area sales director at Miller Homes Midlands, Alastair Parsons, said: "Covid demonstrated the importance of our tight knit neighbourhoods, and that we have a need for facilities that allow the community to come together in a meaningful way.

"From improving sporting facilities to ensuring children of all ages can receive the best education opportunities possible, we are delighted to offer our support to the already thriving town of Kenilworth."

Alastair, added: "Due to its desirable location and its eco-driven features across the neighbourhood, we anticipate Southcrest Rise will be a popular place to live. Kenilworth is a charming market town with plenty of history and is ideally situated for commuters with the A46 and Kenilworth train station close by, providing links to Coventry, Birmingham and Warwick."
