Close Cut

Plans for a 530 metre-long cutting for HS2 which will be just 20 metres behind a park home estate have been revealed.

The high speed rail developer has submitted a planning application to Warwick District Council for 'Bockenden Cutting' which will connect to the southern end of the Burton Green 'cut and cover' tunnel.

Plans show the cutting - which runs roughly parallel to Red Lane - will come within touching distance of Broadwell Wood Residential Park.

Fence Fight Continues

The future of a 156-metre long length of fence in Kenilworth remains in the balance after council planners said it needed to be removed.

The metal fence along a piece of land on Crewe Lane was installed in 2022 without planning permission, with a retrospective application refused by Warwick District Council (WDC) last year.

The local authority has since issued an enforcement notice against the structure, saying it must be removed - but the landowner has appealed the decision.

Thousand Home Trouble

Parish councillors have doubled down on "premature" and potentially dangerous plans to build 970 new homes in Balsall Common.

Harris Strategic Land and Colchurch Properties have applied for planning permission for the huge development on green space between Station Road and Waste Lane.

The scheme - which would border the new HS2 line cutting - would also include a care home/retirement accommodation, community buildings, a primary school and a pre-school, but has been met with significant local opposition.
