Discount retailer B&M has hinted it may be heading to Kenilworth, having submitted a licence application for a new premises in the town.

The high street chain has applied to Warwick District Council (WDC) to sell alcohol at the former Wilko store on Station Road.

If approved, the application to WDC would see alcohol sold at the empty Kenilworth retail unit from 7am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

The application calls the site at 697 Station Road the 'B&M Store'.

Kenilworth's Wilko store closed for the final time at the end of September, with staff thanking local residents for their support.

In September 2023, B&M agreed a £13 million deal to purchase 51 Wilko sites, as the latter went into administration.

Already with over 660 stores nationwide, B&M has already started reopening former Wilko sites under its branding.

Locals have until January 18 to have their say on the licence application.

See the full application here.

Kenilworth Nub News has approached B&M for comment.
