Dan Twigger's cool finish 20 minutes from time was enough for Kenilworth Wardens to steal three points from Cubbington Albion at Glasshouse Lane.

Harry Morris had handed the hosts an unlikely first half lead before Billy Gatfield netted his third league goal of the season to level things up before the break.

But with Twigger once again the difference for Wardens, manager Eamonn Richards said his side still need to improve if they want to get out of the division come the end of the season.

"First half we were rubbish," he said.

"Second half we were much better, but we were indebted to Alex Brown in goal for his first half performance.

"We need to play better with the quality in this side over 90 minutes."

A slow start to the game saw Cubbington Albion create a series of half chances, with the score only staying level through some last ditch defending and smart saves from Brown in the Wardens goal.

Harry Taylor should have put the visitors ahead on 15 minutes when he received the ball on the edge of the six yard box, but his scuffed shot under pressure from James Smith was dragged wide of the near post.

Shortly after Tom Perrin was on hand to slide in and deny Gatfield a certain goal has he ran through on Brown.

Cubbington could have been down to ten men when Twigger chased down a bouncing ball only to clattered by the visiting keeper. But the referee deemed it a fair challenge, despite the Kenilworth striker requiring treatment for his bulging black eye.

But on 30 minutes Morris bagged his second league goal of the campaign when he was played in to guide the ball into the bottom corner through the hands of the diving keeper.

Wardens' lead would not last for long though with Gatfield making the most of a misplaced Perrin pass to dart into the box and slot home.

Following the restart Wardens gave away fewer chances and began to control the ball, but still failed to create anything of note.

Then on 70 minutes Twigger got revenge for his first half collision by calmly finishing under pressure to restore Wardens lead and guarantee them the three points.

With some improved performances after the break Richards picked out Morris' contribution saying: "Harry played really well too, coming off the bench.

"He is getting better week by week."
