Waverley Day Centre has launched a new People's Fundraising page, giving residents and businesses an easy and meaningful way to support the centre's much loved enrichment activities.

The day centre aims to reduce social isolation and to boost the wellbeing of older adults in Kenilworth by providing sessions that stimulate both mind and body, from quizzes and games to creative workshops, movement classes to social events like our armchair travel days that bring joy, connection, and purpose.

For Waverley's members, these activities are far more than just "something to do". They are lifelines: opportunities to stay active, maintain cognitive health, build friendships, and experience the simple pleasure of fun.

As demand for these sessions continues to grow, the centre is inviting the community to help ensure they can keep offering high-quality, engaging experiences for everyone who attends.

Centre Manager Holly explained that enrichment activities are at the heart of Waverley's mission.

"We see every day how powerful these sessions are. Whether it's music, crafts, gentle exercise, or themed events, they bring people together, lift spirits, and support wellbeing in such a meaningful way," she said.

"The new fundraising page allows anyone in the community to contribute on a monthly or one-off basis, no matter how big or small and directly support the joy and stimulation these activities provide."

Funds raised will go towards materials, entertainers, specialist facilitators, movement-based sessions, sensory activities, and new initiatives designed to keep members mentally engaged, physically active, and socially connected.

Alongside its enrichment programme, Waverley Day Centre continues to provide a warm, friendly place for older adults to enjoy a full day of company, conversation, and purposeful activity. With door-to-door transport and a freshly cooked lunch prepared on site, the centre offers reassurance for families and a lovely, sociable experience for those who attend.

Holly emphasised that Waverley is always happy to welcome new faces. "If you're curious about what we do, or you're thinking about support for a loved one, please get in touch. I'd be delighted to arrange an informal visit come in for a tea or coffee, have a look around, and see what a day at Waverley feels like."

Waverley will soon be launching a fundraiser to support the purchase of a new bus as the current one is 11 years old and with more than 130 drop off and pickups each week needs to be replaced with something that will take us forward in a cost effective and reliable way. More than 70% of Waverley clients rely on the bus to get to and from the centre.

The centre encourages anyone interested to reach out, learn more, and experience firsthand the warmth and community spirit that make Waverley such a valued part of local life. Every donation and every new visitor helps strengthen the support Waverley provides to older adults across Kenilworth.
