GALLERY: New Balsall Common Aldi taking shape as opening just weeks away

Balsall Common's new Aldi is taking shape, with the supermarket set to open in less than a month's time.

The Kenilworth Road store is one of 16 set to open in the coming months and will welcome shoppers for the first time on Thursday 3 September.

Plans for the new store - which saw a former petrol station flattened - were signed off in February last year.

The chain applied in 2021 for the demolition of a vacant former service station on the old Edwins Autos site, to the north of Balsall Common, and construction of the supermarket.

The site will also feature a car park with space for 93 vehicles.

The discount retailer, which now has more than 1,080 stores nationwide, will open new locations in areas including Watford and Hoxton in London, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, and Balsall Common.

The latest openings support Aldi's long-term ambition to operate 1,500 stores across the UK.
