Kenilworth Wardens Reserves were unlucky to not win an entertaining fixture against Folly Lane C, with the game ending 1-1.

The Wardens started with the 4-3-3 formation with served them well towards the end of last week's game at Craven Athletic, but had to defend from the get go, with full back Ross Farquharson defending well at the back post to deny the visitors an early opportunity.

Wardens grew into the game after this, captain Archie Evans fired straight at the keeper and both Dane Watt and Charlie Waters had opportunities as Wardens dictated the pace and repelled advances from their opponents.

Despite this, the game was tied at 0-0 at half-time.

Wardens started the second half brightly, and got their reward early in the half as the ball fell to Watt who rifled into the top corner for 1-0.

Dan Twigger and Eamonn Richards had now entered the fray as Wardens looked for their second which, in truth, may have killed off their spirited opponents.

Unfortunately for Wardens, their final pass was slightly off and Folly Lane capitalised, with a bundled effort trickling in for the equaliser.

Not letting their heads drop, Wardens pushed on and the impressive Twigger fashioned chances for himself but was repelled by the Folly Lane Keeper and centre back Tom Griffith had a header saved and a shot blocked towards the end as the chances continued to come.

Andy Whitehouse had to be alert in goal for Wardens as Folly Lane committed players forward on the counter in an attempt to nick the game.

The ref blew up on this entertaining game, and both sides had to settle for a point, taking Wardens to seven points from their first five games.

Manager Tom Perrin said this at the end of the game: "I'm more than pleased with the performance, the effort and the way we dominated large spells but I think we were guilty of overplaying at times, taking too many touches and not being at clinical as we should have been.

"This will come with time, though, and on another day, there were three or four more goals there for us. We move on to next week and another home game and opportunity to climb back up what is shaping to be a really competitive league."

The Wardens are back at Glasshouse Lane next week as they take on bottom of the league Dunlop.

Kenilworth Wardens are proudly sponsored by Aaron Richards Carpets and Flooring.

"I can't recommend them high enough"

"From start to finish you were reliable, punctual, professional and provided incredible customer service. We would highly recommend you to anyone"

"Aaron and their team are great at what they do!"
