A Kenilworth homeowner has won a battle to extend their home after objections from neighbours.

Warwick District Council's planning committee this week unanimously approved plans for a two-storey extension for a house on Arthur Street.

Multiple objections have been received from neighbours who say the works are "excessive," will cause a lot of noise, have an impact on privacy and could allow the property to become an HMO in the future.

Issues around parking were also raised, but Kenilworth councillor Richard Dickson addressed this in the meeting.

"This is a street in Kenilworth which is notorious for being difficult for emergency vehicles to access but this is an unusual property in that it does have off-street car parking, which I think is worth noting," he said.

The application originally included a new porch but this was removed as it was considered "incongruous".

A council report recommended planning permission be granted.

Cllr James Kennedy added: "This is in my ward, and I second the comments of Cllr Dickson, but I can see no objection to going ahead with this."
