Kenilworth Sporting came from behind three times to earn a point from league leaders Fairfield Villa.
Kenilworth were without three key players and so for they shuffled the pack to try and cope with Villa.
But the game got off to the worst possible start for the hosts who were behind after just three minutes.
A hopeful ball upfield wasn't dealt with by the Kenilworth defence or keeper and Fairfield took the lead.
Kenilworth's reaction was positive and on eight minutes Jason Evans put in a lovely cross and Steer met it with what looked like a tap in, after the keeper made the first save, Steer smashed the ball home 1-1.
On 23 minutes Fairfield regained the lead.
Another lapse in concentration in the Kenilworth back line resulted in another sloppy goal conceded.
Some harsh words were said at halftime by Martin Ascroft and his coaching staff because Kenilworth came out a different team and took the game to Fairfield with some great play and it only seemed a matter of time before they got the equaliser.
Fairfield stood strong against Kenilworth and it was the substitutions that turned the game.
Joe Taylor, Mason Platts and Callum Mack gave Kenilworth the lift they needed and on 83 minutes Taylor thundered a left footed drive against the post but Platts was there to smash home the second equaliser.
Fairfield showed their resilience and experience and to the shock of the buoyant Kenilworth crowd Fairfield took the lead in the 90th minute for the third time.
After what seemed a certain foul by Fairfield on the edge of the Kenilworth box was waved on by the referee, the Fairfield substitute passed his shot into the goal.
Kenilworth weren't finished and with the referee ready to blow, the Sporting players launched one more attack on the Fairfield goal and after some neat forward play down the right the ball fell to Dave Freeman who blasted the ball home from 5 yards to equalise again .
Speaking after the game Ascroft said: " With the lads we had missing today I suppose I should be happy with the result
"Our second half performance probably deserved more than the draw but we showed some guts and my young squad deserved all the praise for their efforts.
"For the first time this season voices were raised at halftime by not just me but from both of my assistants, we have a young squad that are still learning and finding their way in mens football so we do our best to protect them but yesterday a few truths had to be told by myself and my staff."
