The Talisman Theatre's much-loved pantomime will return to the stage this Christmas after going online in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Directed by Sally Jolliffe, the Kenilworth theatre will this year offer 'Puss in Boots' with performances starting on 17 December.

Written by the Talisman's own Stephen Duckham, the story starts at the Old Mill which is up for sale. The Ogre is determined to buy it but just as the auction is about to start the miller's son, Colin, arrives to claim his inheritance.

In the mill we meet Puss, a very intelligent cat. When Colin buys a new pair of boots, quick as a flash, Puss puts them on and magically gains the power of speech.

And so begins an adventure with all the spectacle and laughter of a traditional Talisman Pantomime.

A Talisman Theatre spokesperson said: "Pantomime is a well-loved, wonderful and magical family tradition that the Talisman Theatre is proud to uphold every year.

"This year we're offering the wonderful story of Puss in Boots by Stephen Duckham.

"Talisman pantomimes are well known to be family fun with audiences of all ages coming back year after year. Audiences will be delighted with a few hours of laughter and slapstick, gorgeous costumes and great songs."

The theatre has also been thoroughly cleaned in anticipation of inviting audiences back in for the first time in 20 months.

Recently a crew of people cleaned the Theatre from top to bottom, getting the venue back to its best having been closed for over 20 months. The crew gave the auditorium a fresh lick of paint, cleaned and swept the place from top to bottom and polished every surface

An air exchange system has also been installed as the theatre committed to spending £90,000 to improve safety meaasures.

Maintenance manager, Richard Crump said: "We had a great turn out of theatre members over the weekend and although a fair bit of coffee was drunk and biscuits consumed, we achieved everything we wanted to make sure we're ready to open our doors this Christmas."
