Kenilworth will once again have two separate Christmas light switch-on events this year with High Street and Warwick Road each having their own dedicated occasion.

A report presented at Kenilworth Town Council revealed that the decision was made in March between the town council, Warwick District Council and the Illuminations Committee to host separate events in 2022.

The High Street switch-on will take place on Friday, November 25, at 6pm, with stalls open from 5pm until 8pm.

Warwick Road's will take place two days later on Sunday November 27.

The second instalment will have fairground rides available from midday as well as entertainment on stage from 4pm to 8pm.

The lights will be turned on by Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Sam Louden-Cooke at 6pm.

WDC is expected to contribute £8,000 for the weekend with £3,000 coming from the Illuminations Committee and the remaining £5,000 being fronted by the town council.

The money will go towards the putting up, checking and taking down the lights.

The return of the lights this year will be the first time a full event has been held since 2019.

Last year's light switch-on event was cancelled on the day due to bad weather, and in 2020 the switch-on was a virtual one with residents encouraged to turn on their own lights at the same time.

Details of the road closures, stalls and entertainment for the switch-ones will be announced in due course.
