Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

£2million From Estate

A new housing estate being built in Kenilworth will see more than £2million invested in local services.

Miller Homes West Midlands is set to build 99 homes at its Southcrest Rise development.

And as part of its planning obligations to Warwick District Council, Miller Homes will give over £2,067,000 earmarked for education, transport and sporting facilities in Kenilworth.

Kenilworth School Underway

Photographs have shown the progress on site at the new Kenilworth School.

Work began on the Glasshouse Lane project in May 2021 and are expected to be complete by June 2023 ready for the school to welcome students in for the start of term in September.

Kenilworth School & Sixth Form has been planning the project that will see it move from its two sites on Leyes Lane and Rouncil Lane to Southcrest Farm since 2014.

Being built by Morgan Sindall, the £48million project will see a single three-storey school building built with 33 acres of sports pitches.

£3million Junctions Funded

Over £3million will be spent on roadworks around 550 new houses being built in Kenilworth.

Planning permission for the Thickthorn estate was granted in December 2021, with full permission given for 98 homes and outline consent for a further 442.

And following a decision by Warwickshire County Council last week (September 28), four new junctions that are needed for the development have been given the go ahead.

Art Gallery Completed

Locally based Jonathan Holland Architects and Paul Tracey Construction have recently completed a new-build private art studio, known as The Bank Gallery Studio, on Kenilworth High Street.

The studio sits just behind the grade II listed Bank Gallery and next to grade I listed St Nicholas Church.

The building was designed for a private commercial client, aiming to create a studio workspace which can also be used for small scale private events and exhibitions.
