A farewell party is set to be held in the current Kenilworth School grounds before staff and students move to the new Glasshouse Lane facility this September.

Works to create the new school building are nearing completion, with the new site set to be open in time for the start of the 2023-24 academic year.

And with days at the current Leyes Lane and Rouncil Lane sites numbered, Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT) has announced a 'Farewell Fundraising Festival' this July.

Held at the Leyes Lane school, the send off event will take place on Saturday, July 1.

There will be live entertainment throughout the day from both pupils and external performers including a stilt walker, magician and hula hoop artist.

A bbq will also run throughout the day, as well as tours of the current buildings. And there will be a raffle, with local businesses currently being encouraged to donate prizes.

"It is a golden moment to bring people together who have been associated with the school over its existence," said Hayden Abbott, executive head KMAT.

"A chance to share memories and revisit classrooms and play areas that have had a significance in their lives."

The farewell, which will run until 10pm, will culminate in a firework display.

Staff, pupils past and present and parents, as well as the Kenilworth community will all be invited to the event.

And the school is also looking for local businesses to donate raffle and tombola prizes. Anyone interested can contact fundraising manager Sarah Taylor-Watts at [email protected]

"Both staff and pupils are excited about the move and the opportunities the enhanced facilities will bring," Mr Abbott added.

And with the move to Glasshouse Lane just weeks away, the school is still raising money to enhance the new facilities.

KMAT has already raised over £1 million - including a recent £250,000 donation for the new library.

Tickets for the farewell will be going on sale shortly.
