750-metre railway cutting

HS2 has applied for planning permission to build a 750-metre-long railway cutting to the north of Kenilworth.

Plans submitted to Warwick District Council state the cutting will be up to 11 metres deep and will run from near Crackley Wood to the A429 Kenilworth Road.

The proposed cutting is around 500 metres from Crackley Wood Local Nature Reserve, but the plans state there will be "no direct impact" on the woodland.

Community Park

Plans to build an 85-hectare community park around the edge of a major new industrial estate have been approved by the district council.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Development Partnership (CWDP) has been given permission to build the park around the southern border of its Gateway South development near Coventry Airport.

The overall site, which will soon be home to DHL as well as other major firms, covers 183 hectares and was given outline planning approval by Warwick District Council in October 2019.

In February Warwick District Council turned down a previous scheme to redevelop the Fieldgate Lane property and replace it with a five-bed house.

While the decision was appealed the owners submitted a second application to regenerate the site, which has now been given the green light by the council.

Next to the grade II listed Fieldgate House, the bungalow had been described as "sad" and "dilapidated" by locals who had supported the project.
