Plans to build an 85-hectare community park around the edge of a major new industrial estate have been approved by the district council.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Development Partnership (CWDP) has been given permission to build the park around the southern border of its Gateway South development near Coventry Airport.
The overall site, which will soon be home to DHL as well as other major firms, covers 183 hectares and was given outline planning approval by Warwick District Council in October 2019.
Detailed plans for the community park, which include a visitors parking area and timber-clad public toilets, have been approved.
The park will see earth mounds built around the perimeter of the estate, shielding it from view.
Approximately 9,500 metres of footpaths and cycleways will be created, 120,000 square metres of woodland planted, and 5,000 metres of hedgerow grown.
Exercise equipment will be installed around the park, as well as a number of ponds.
The original plans were set to include a link across the River Avon but this part of the scheme has been abandoned.
When the original plans were submitted CWDP said: "The community park proposal for Gateway South is an integral and fundamental part of the scheme which has been specifically designed to provide extensive public access to a high quality environment; to provide a substantial buffer between the built element of the development and surrounding communities; and to ensure that the green belt is retained in perpetuity."
It added: "It is expected that the community park will provide a significant amount of screening of the development from the south as well as providing an area in which different users will be able to experience the amenities the park has to offer."
