Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

HS2 Compound Plans

HS2 is asking for feedback on plans to expand its compound next to the A46 to be the size of Abbey Fields.

The high-speed rail developer revealed in April that it intends to take over and develop Highways England's site on Stoneleigh Road, with the site to be in place for at least four years.

Members of Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee have already raised concerns about the plans, questioning whether the 30-hectare site will be too big.

HS2 has said it will now host two public exhibitions to give more details on the scheme.

Advertising Hoarding Appeal

An appeal has been lodged after Warwick District Council refused to grant permission for a huge digital advertising board to be built opposite a grade II listed Kenilworth pub.

The council had blocked Birmingham-based firm Replyshort Ltd's plan to build a 4.7 metre by 2.4 metres advert opposite the Bear and Ragged Staff on Warwick Road.

The council said the advert would have been "highly out of place" and caused "a notable degree of visual disruption to neighbouring uses".

Estate Pressures GPs

Extra pressure is being put on village GP surgeries because of a lack of facilities at a major new housing development alongside the M40 at Upper Lighthorne Heath.

Cllr Clare Golby said there had been ongoing discussions about GPs, adding that it was a county-wide issue leading to backlogs in the health system.
