The list of Kenilworth nominees for the upcoming Warwickshire County Council elections have today (April 9) been announced.

WCC elections will take place on May 6, with representatives being voted in for: Lapworth and West Kenilworth, Kenilworth St. John's, and Kenilworth Park Hill.

In total 14 different candidates have been put forward to contest the three wards, two of which are guaranteed to have a new councillor following this election.

Currently the ruling Conservative group holds 33 of the 57 seats. There are then, eight Liberal Democrat, seven Labour two Green, three Independent and one Whitnash Residents Association councillors.

Park Hill Ward

After it was revealed that incumbent Conservative Cllr Dave Shilton would not be permitted to stand for his seat again for said party in 2021, Park Hill Ward will have a new councillor for the next term of office.

Standing for Park Hill:

Samantha Cooke - Liberal Democrats

Tracey Drew - Green

Jeremy Eastaugh - Labour

Andy Metcalf - Conservative

St. John's Ward

Cllr Alan Cockburn will be retiring as a county councillor this year, having first been elected to WCC in June 2001. As such, St. John's will also have a new councillor come May 7.

Standing for St. John's:

Wendy Edwards - Green

Jane Green - Labour

Wayne Harris - Social Democrat

Adrian Marsh - Liberal Democrats

Richard Spencer - Conservative

Lapworth and West Kenilworth Ward

Cllr John Cooke will be contesting his seat once again, having been elected a Conservative councillor for WCC for the first time in 2017.

Standing for Lapworth and West Kenilworth:

John Cooke - Conservative

Robert Eason - Liberal Democrats

Sue Gallagher - Independent

Nicholas Hoten - Labour

John Watson - Green

A Reform UK candidate had also been nominated for Lapworth and West Kenilworth, however the nomination was rejected on the grounds that neither proposer nor seconder lived within the electoral division.

Kenilworth Nub News will bring you the results of the election come May 6.
