To help owners make their homes more sustainable, the Kenilworth Town Council Climate Emergency Working Group is organising a free webinar on The Green Homes Grant scheme on Tuesday 16 February at 7pm.
Andrew Brown, an expert in retrofit and quality management, will explain what the government's Green Homes Grant Scheme is all about and importantly how to access it avoiding the possible pitfalls.
Under the Green Homes Grant Scheme, homeowners may be eligible for vouchers worth up to £5,000 to make their homes more energy efficient. This can rise to a value of £10,000 for those on low incomes.
Eligibility though depends on the nature of work which is involved, so the webinar will explain the full range of improvements covered by the scheme and their division into two categories 'primary' and 'secondary'.
Households will only qualify for a voucher if they are installing at least one of the improvements on the primary list.
However, if households already have at least one of the 'primary' measures installed, they can apply for a voucher to add top ups, for instance, to install additional materials to reach a required level, but not to replace the existing measure.
All owner-occupied homes, including long-leaseholders and those in shared ownership properties, may be eligible for vouchers of up to £5,000. Though leaseholders and share-of-freehold tenants may need to get permission before making changes to their home.
To access the webinar please go to the Kenilworth Town Council website.
To take part in the webinar you'll need to have the Webex app on your device, and details on how to install this are available on the town council's website.
