A local photographer is presenting a large number of photographs at the Litten Tree Building in Coventry from Sunday 1 October.

These images represent the lives and the people of Darfur, Western Sudan during the years of stability and upheaval between 1983 and 1986.

The exhibition opens on Sunday 1 October, and will be in place for the whole of October.

It will be held at The Litten Tree Building in Warwick Row, Coventry. I am having a small launch this Sunday at 1pm.

These photos are unique. Many people will recall the media bombardment of the famine in 1985 and 1986, with Live Aid and other celebrity driven events.

These images in the exhibition go beyond that because I was one of a handful of people from the West who actually lived through that time, spoke the local language and knew many Sudanese people who feature in the photographs on display.
