Kenilworth Sporting FC went top of the Midlands Division Three today after their fifth consecutive victory, a 3-0 away win over Sutton United.

Sporting had made the dream start to the season winning four from four, scoring thirteen, and conceding just two in September.

No team had conceded fewer goals, and only three teams had scored more than them. However, one of the three sides happened to be their opponents this weekend, Sutton United.

Sutton sat sixth in the table going into today's fixture, with two wins and two defeats from their opening fixtures. The Sutton Coldfield outfit had also played two of the same opponents that Kenilworth had already faced.

Sutton beat WLV Sport 4-3, and then embarrassed bottom-placed Castle Vale 9-2.

Kenilworth Sporting rose to the challenge today, keeping another clean sheet, and showing their form under new manager Martin Ascroft.

Although they were without their manager, as Ascroft was in hospital following an operation this week, the team did him proud.

Kenilworth took the lead on 12 minutes with a goal from Tyrone Wilson. Their lead was then doubled just five minutes later by Tom Sharpe.

Kenilworth went into the break 2-0 up, with the game lucky not to have been postponed due to the weather.

The away side continued to dominate the ball, and create chances in the second half, but struggled to put the game to bed.

However, on 60 minutes new-signing Charlie McConnachie fired Kenilworth into a 3-0 lead, effectively securing the points for the away side.

The tough games will keep coming though, and Kenilworth will host Coventrians next week at Gypsy Lane, only their second home game since the return of non-league football to Kenilworth this year.
