An impressive Brinklow side came from behind to beat Kenilworth Wardens 3-2.
Goals from Alex Cockburn and Dan Twigger had but the visitors ahead but a brace from Conor Mckiernan and a goal off the bench from Kian Ludford turned things around for the East Warwickshire outfit.
Returning from a three-match suspension Twigger looked dangerous from the start and nearly opened the scoring when he latched onto a through ball by Adam Hnat, beat both his men before his shot beat the keeper but went narrowly over the bar.
Despite Wardens being the better side for the first 15 minutes, Brinklow began to dominate possession and create half chances. On 25 minutes Kenilworth gave the ball away on the edge of their box before Brinklow moved the ball to the right, the subsequent cross was met from a tight angle by Mckiernan who headed home.
Brinklow had several half chances to extend their lead but a mixture between good defending and good keeping from Tom Day kept the scoreline 1-0.
After half time Wardens continued to improve. On 55 minutes Eamonn Richards won a free kick 40 yards out. His set piece was aimed to Cockburn who out muscled three Brinklow defenders before firing low into the bottom corner for Wardens' equaliser and Cockburn's first goal for the club.
The goal also marked Richards' 45 assist for the Wardens first team.
Five minutes later the Kenilworth side took the lead. Captain Sol Bloomer won the ball back on the edge of his own box and played an excellent through ball to Twigger. Twigger outpaced his marked before lobbing the keeper for his 12th goal in seven matches and Bloomer's fifth assist of the year.
Wardens then had their best spell. After great passing spells Richards played both Hnat and Twigger in for one on ones, but they could not convert the chance.
Twigger and Cockburn also had excellent chances from Richards corners, but Brinklow kept the ball out of the net due to excellent keeping and blocks on the line.
But gradually Brinklow threatened and began to look dangerous again. A defensive error allowed Brinklow's striker a free run at goal, however Cockburn did enough to put the striker off before shooting.
On 70 minutes however, Brinklow did equalise following a corner which was not dealt with by the Wardens defence and substitute Ludford headed the ball in from close range.
Minutes later Wardens again gave the ball away cheaply and Brinklow played to Mckiernan out wide who hit the ball like a rocket into the top corner from 25 yards for his 11th goal in 11 games this year.
Despite some late pressure Brinklow held out for their fifth league win of the season and wardens remain bottom of the league.
"Brinklow are a top top side. Well drilled, really good technical footballers and beat top of the league Dunlop 4-1 in their previous game," player-manager Richards said at full time.
"That being said, we didn't deserve to lose today. We take any of our four excellent chances at 2-1 up I think we go on to win that game.
"We are so so close to being a really good side. However we've got a squad of players with ages between 18-22 who haven't played at this level before and the learning curve for how to manage games is steep.
"Have absolutely no complaints with the effort or execution of the players, just lack of experience and mistakes at bad times are costing us.
"I see this year as a transition, if we keep improving the players we have then I fully believe we'll be an excellent side. 18 year olds Diarmuid and James Grant were excellent today. Defensively in general we were great.
"The comments from Brinklow players and management after the game that we were the best side they've played are nice but we need to convert our good performances to wins. But confident that'll come."
Wardens reserves drew 1-1 against Windmill following a goal from Leo Parnell-Notice but were frustrated with a controversial late equalizer to deny their first win of the year.
